inI went outside to feed my cats this morning and was greeted by two huge moths. They were beautiful. Last week I found a Luna moth on one of my gold threads. I wasn’t able to get a picture of that one since I didn’t have my phone or camera. That’s OK sometimes things aren’t meant to be captured in a picture. Nature can always bring a smile to my face even when not feeling all that great.

Yet another favorite as I mentioned in my owl post. The crow! Growing up that was my nickname from my parents, because I loved them and also wore black all the time. Anytime I’m at home visiting if my mom hears one she always says, “Heather they’re calling you.”
Of course with my tattoo addiction, naturally I have a crow tattoo. Took four hours to complete the tattoo, but well worth it. I need to get an updated picture now that it’s been healed for a few months now. The next on my list is a wolf which I’m currently designing.

inI absolutely love owls. They are one of my favorite animals along with wolves and crows. There is something mysterious and wise about them. I found this picture online and fell in love with it!
Here are a few others I found. Owls have a place in my heart. A family friend use to talk to them when we would go hiking/camping and they would talk back. He passed away a few years ago and whenever I hear an owl hooting I think of him. He was such an amazing and unique person, he’s greatly missed.
This one is precious, he looks like he’s smiling!
I’ve had a friend ask me to draw an owl portrait for her boyfriend. I’m really looking forward to working on it and will post pictures when completed.

inThis is the reason I love animals so much. Why can’t humans learn from animals? Why can’t we all just get along?
I found this online.
After a mother chimpanzee who lived in a zoo died, one of the zoo’s employees took the baby chimp home to care for it. It never crossed his mind that his dog, who had recently given birth, would adopt the chimp and raise it with her pups.

inMorning everyone, I feel the need to vent and I apologize in advance. For someone that has asthma, allergies, and migraines I hate the humidity and warm weather that for the most part trigger all these. SO, when I have dealt with such a long hot and humid summer living in Virginia I feel the need to vent. We never had a winter let alone a spring since it was so warm this year. I have done my time with the heat and now its finally starting to cool off at night and all I hear in the mornings is “I hate this cold weather! We haven’t even had a transition period!” Um, yes we have because its still warm outside its just starting to cool off at night! Stop your bitching people! I have done my time with this heat and being sick! I’m SO ready for cool weather so I can breath and actually get out to enjoy nature without being miserable and sweaty. Honestly, how can people enjoy sweating and being hot???? I just don’t get it. I’m a fall, winter and spring person when the weather is cool. Ok, I’m done..I’ve spoken my peace.

Someone forwarded this email to me. It amazes me how animals can get along and we as humans are always at war for the stupidest shit. Can’t we all learn to get along with one another. Does it really matter what race, sexual preference, religion, etc someone is?? I say no, but that is my own opinion.
The 3 Amigos They make an unlikely trio but Baloo the bear, Leo the lion and Shere Khan the tiger have forged an unusually strong bond. Considering that they would be mortal enemies if they ever were to meet in the wild, it is stunning to see their unique and genuine friendship in these intimate pictures. Rescued eight years ago during a police drugs raid in Atlanta, Georgia, the three friends were only cubs at the time at barely two months old.
They had been kept as status symbol pets by the drug barons. Delivered to the Noah’s Ark Animal Rescue Centre in Locust Grove, Georgia, the decision was made to keep the youngsters together, because of their budding rapport. ‘We could have separated them, but since they came as a kind of family, the zoo decided to keep them together,’ said Diane Smith, assistant director of Noah’s Ark. ‘To our knowledge, this is the only place where you’ll find this combination of animals together.’ Living with the zoo’s founders for the past eight years, Shere Khan, Baloo and Leo have now moved to a purpose-built habitat where the US public can now witness first hand their touching relationships.
‘We didn’t have the money to move them at first,’ said Diane. ‘Now their habitat is sorted and they have been moved away from the children’s zoo areas where the public couldn’t really get a good look. ‘It is possible to see Baloo, who is a 1000lb bear, Shere Khan, a 350lb tiger and Leo, who is also 350lbs, messing around like brothers. ‘They are totally oblivious to the fact that in any other circumstance they would not be friends.’ Handled by Charles and Jama Hedgecoth, the zoo’s owners and founders, the three friendly giants appear to have no comprehension of their animal differences. ‘Baloo and Shere Khan are very close,’ says Diane. ‘That is because they rise early, and as Leo is a lion, he likes to spend most of the day sleeping. ‘It is wonderful and magical to see a giant American Black Bear put his arm around a Bengal and then to see the tiger nuzzle up to the bear like a domestic cat. ‘When Leo wakes up the three of them mess around for most of the day before they settle down to some food.’
Surprisingly for three apex predators with the power to kill with a single bite or swipe of their paw, they are very relaxed around each other. ‘They eat, sleep and play together,’ said Jama. ‘As they treat each other as siblings they will lie on top of each other for heat and simply for affection. ‘At the moment they are getting used to their new habitat. ‘Shere Khan is being quite reticent about the move, but Baloo, the bear, is very good at leading him on and making him feel comfortable and safe.’ Explaining that the three ‘brothers’ have always seemed to share a unique bond, Charles said: ‘Noah’s Ark is their home and they could not possibly be separated from each other. ‘You just have to remember who you’re dealing with when you are with them, though. ‘It’s when you forget that these fellows are wild animals that you get yourself in trouble.’ The trio’s new habitat had to be constructed carefully, in order to accommodate its occupants. Jama said: ‘The clubhouse had to be very sturdy for the guys, because they all sleep in it together,’ She added: ‘We had to include a creek, because the tiger and the bear both like to be in water.’
And how are YOU getting along with YOUR neighbors today

While cutting grass I met one of many resident spiders. This one fascinated me. I have been watching it when I do yard work. It’s doubled in size since the last time I looked in on it. It’s called a St Andrews Cross Spider. The web is pretty interesting in itself. It’s not shaped like a normal web, but like that of a cross. You can see the spider below in the middle of this one. The lightening made it hard to get a picture of the web, but you get the idea.
